Entertainment Industry Jobs Act Tax Credit Program

Description

The purpose of the Entertainment Industry Jobs Act Tax Credit Program is to provide an incentive for touring entities to rehearse and perform in Missouri.

The Program was enacted in 2023 through the Entertainment Industry Jobs Act, ยง 135.753, RSMo, which provides a tax credit equal to 30% of qualified rehearsal and tour expenses, subject to certain limitations and requirements.

Do I Qualify?

Minimum rehearsal and tour requirements: the occurrence of all of the following during a rehearsal or tour:

i. The purchase or rental of concert tour equipment, related services, or both, in an amount of at least one million dollars from a Missouri vendor for use in the rehearsal, on the tour, or both;

ii. A rehearsal at a qualified rehearsal facility for a minimum of ten days; and

iii. The holding of at least two concerts in Missouri.

How Do I Apply?

An applicant will first complete a Preliminary Application, which is an application for an eligibility determination and the authorization of tax credits for a proposed project.  DED and MFO will provide the forms to be used. 

  1. Applicants must submit a complete Preliminary Application to MFO prior to the date of the start of rehearsals.
  2. Additional information required in the Preliminary Application includes:
    1. Projected rehearsal dates;
    2. Projected tour dates;
    3. The Estimated Qualified Expenses Worksheet.
