ST. ANN, Mo.—Missouri-based Save-A-Lot announced that construction will begin on its new corporate headquarters at the Crossings at Northwest in St. Ann, Missouri.
“We’re competing for jobs with companies around the world, and we’re supporting Missouri businesses right here at home,” Governor Eric Greitens said. “We’re glad that Save-A-Lot will continue to be a Missouri business, and will continue to grow and invest here in Missouri.”
Save-A-Lot conducted a national search to find the right location for its corporate headquarters, which currently employs 450 people. After a detailed internal analysis, discussion directly with Governor Greitens and his team along with assistance from the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership and Missouri Partnership, the company decided to remain in the St. Louis region and state of Missouri.
The new 165,000 square foot space at the Crossings at Northwest will house its current operations plus an additional 64 employees that the company plans to hire over the next three years.
“St. Louis has been home to Save-A-Lot for more than forty years and we are proud to continue our association with this great city,” said Kenneth McGrath, President and CEO of Save-A-Lot food stores. “Our desire to build for the future in state-of-the-art facilities with continued access to great talent on our doorstep underpins this decision. The Crossings at Northwest is the perfect fit for our new home.”
Save-A-Lot is a household name for many Missourians; the company began with a single store in Cahokia, Illinois in 1977 and rapidly expanded into St. Louis and beyond. The location at Northwest Crossing, where the new headquarters will be located, is part of a mixed-use redevelopment previously known as Northwest Plaza – a former shopping mall. It’s approximately 15 minutes from the company’s current headquarters.
The State of Missouri, Missouri Partnership, St. Louis Economic Development Partnership and St. Louis County assisted with this project.
“We were pleased to work with Save-A-Lot in order to help ensure their corporate headquarters remained and grew in St. Louis,” said Steve Johnson, CEO of Missouri Partnership. “Save-A-Lot’s a great company and St. Louis is an ideal location for their headquarters, with extremely competitive business costs and immediate access to highly skilled talent.”
Save-A-Lot’s store and distribution network includes more than 1,200 corporate and licensed stores in 36 states and 16 wholesale distribution centers. Save-A-Lot offers shoppers fresh produce and top-quality meats, as well as local and national brands at discounted prices.
