The Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) announced today that Danielle Briot will serve as its new Director for the Division of Strategy and Performance, which informs DED’s strategic planning, program development, and performance management.
“We’re excited for Danielle to step into this position, which plays such a vital role in advancing our mission of helping Missourians prosper,” said Michelle Hataway, Director of the Department of Economic Development. “The Strategy and Performance Division is dedicated to continuously improving programs and processes to ensure we deliver the greatest possible impact for our state. Danielle has the experience and skillset needed to lead this division’s critical efforts.”
The Division of Strategy and Performance is focused on using data and performance metrics to ensure DED’s programs and processes are efficient and effective. As Director, Briot will lead the division in providing subject matter expertise in specialized areas such as economic research, data analysis, policy development, project management, and operational excellence. In her previous role as Deputy Director for the division, Briot helped oversee its initiatives alongside then-Director Kayla Kueckelhan, who is now serving as DED’s Deputy Director.

Briot has also previously served as Deputy Director for the Office of Equal Opportunity, one of the state’s Operational Excellence Leaders, and in various leadership roles with other departments. Briot has contributed to statewide initiatives that support business growth, including Talent for Tomorrow and Best in Midwest.
Briot is certified in Lean Six Sigma, a process improvement method, in addition to core and domestic mediation. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business management and administration from Columbia College and a master’s degree in legal studies from Purdue University. Briot is also a graduate of the Missouri Leadership Academy.
